Kiba_Lumberyard_in_1933 (1)

View of a jam-packed ‘kiba’ 木場,
(floating lumberyard) in 1933. A section of Koto-ku used to be filled with these lumberyards, which is why the area is still called Kiba (e.g. Kiba Station).
Nearby, present-day Odaiba was also used to store lumber. See: Odaiba, then & now: a visual history お台場の歴史
