Nearby is Chitose-karasuyama Station, close to which is a former danchi (public housing project) that I wrote about a few years ago; that danchi was the first I ever encountered and set me on a long path of trying to understand the extent to which public housing shaped the development of Japan in the postwar period and beyond.
