Moga modern girls

Examples of ‘moga’, an abbreviation of “modern girls”, which referred to fashionable (generally young) women in Japan who adopted new, often Western, fashions. This cultural trend is associated with the 1920s and is often analogized to ‘flappers’ in the West. See: Ad Balloons on the Ginza: Float, Young Advertisers! (1890-1989)
